Name: Karen Fiske

Background: Karen is a senior technical writer and editor on the Microsoft Dynamics SL Development team. Ten years ago she started with Solomon Software as a Technical Support engineer, mainly supporting FRx. It was during that time that she found an interest in technical writing. Since then, Karen has worked on documentation projects for Plumbline, Microsoft, Great Plains, and Solomon Software. Karen’s earlier work life was diverse and gave her many opportunities that helped set a path toward her career today. She began as an office manager and assistant store manager for a retail jeweler, and one of her later jobs was as a technology coordinator for a public school system.

Likes best about consulting: Karen likes taking customer feedback and using it to improve documentation content. She enjoys the excitement that comes from learning that something she worked on improved an external or internal customer’s user experience and made them happy. She feels that making the customer happy needs to be the front and center focus for anyone who works on product documentation. Karen also greatly appreciates working with the many talented and fun people that are the body and soul of Plumbline.
